Our Story

Tidalthorn was established in 2014 with a straightforward purpose: to make financial education accessible, practical, and genuinely useful for people of all ages. Based in Glasgow, we recognised that too many individuals and families were navigating financial decisions without the knowledge they needed.

Over the years, we have developed a curriculum that moves beyond theory. Our courses address real scenarios that our students encounter in daily life, from managing a first pay cheque to planning for retirement. We believe that financial literacy should be taught with the same importance as reading or mathematics.

Today, we work with schools, community organisations, and individuals throughout Scotland. Our team of instructors brings together experience from education, banking, and financial planning, creating a learning environment that is both professional and approachable.

Our Approach

We understand that talking about money can feel uncomfortable. Our courses are designed to create a supportive atmosphere where questions are welcomed and no one is judged for their starting point. Whether someone is managing debt or learning to save for the first time, we meet them where they are.

Each programme combines classroom instruction with practical exercises. Students leave with tools they can immediately apply: budget templates, decision frameworks, and a clearer understanding of how financial systems work.

What Guides Us

The principles that shape how we teach and support our students

Clarity Over Complexity

Financial concepts should be explained in plain language. We avoid jargon and focus on understanding that students can retain and use.

Individual Attention

Every student has different goals and circumstances. Our small class sizes allow instructors to adapt explanations and provide personal guidance.

Practical Application

Theory matters, but application matters more. Students work through real scenarios and leave with tools they can use immediately.
